DESCRIPTION:
Clocks- 2 (Two): (1) Unknown, Mass.-style shelf clock reproduction, 8 day, time and strike, spring driven German movement in a handmade pine case, c1980; (2) Unknown, reproduction of acorn shelf clock originally produced by Forestville Manufacturing Co., 8 day, time and strike, spring driven movement in a walnut case, c1990.
CONDITION:
(1) Case base with small dents and dings. Paint lost on dial around center arbor. Nicely constructed case showing hand work and some antique boards were used. Modern German movement strikes on a bell. Painted metal dial reads "Warranted by Col. D. Hall ". (2) Modern Welch metal dial. Asian reproduction of a Connecticut time and strike movement. The maker cut the case from a solid piece of walnut so the clock is heavy for its size. The look of the clock could be easily and greatly improved with a different glass tablet and dial.
